Special ThanksYear: 2011 2011 has been a wonderful year full of miracles for the horses. Horse Rescue Ontario is becoming more of a sanctuary to protect those who need to be protected. Unless a committed, loving home is found, they will live out their lives here where they are loved and safe. We have been a registered Federal Charity since Feb. 2003 placing more than 150 horses and helping as many as possible from starvation, neglect, abuse or slaughter. We do not receive any Govt. grants. We have taken in a few more horses this year and have a horse who was abandoned and left in a field without shelter over a year ago coming soon. We are grateful for the many kind supporters who have donated funds to help purchase the feed, hay, shavings, salt blocks, fly masks, horse blankets, vitamins, vet care, farrier care and other necessities for the horses. We are grateful for Rose Hill Liquidation and their help with fundraising BBQ's,and Agribrands Purina for their donations of feed. We are also grateful for the Yurgan family for their weekly visits with carrots and willingness to help when a load of hay arrives. We are grateful for Betty and all her help with fundraising and our yearly Open House. We could not do it without her. We also appreciate her generosity and love shown the horses. We appreciate June who raises money for the horses through her crafts and for sponsoring Baddick. We are also grateful for Lily and Peter who have recently started visiting the horses with apples and their willingness to help make life even nicer for the horses. We appreciate their help. Thank you all for caring. "Together we can make a difference." God Bless you all!
We would like to thank four very special young people and their school for a very successful fundraiser for the horses. Tessa Freitas, Heather Lundrigan, Moosa Bowman and Grayden Lyons at Chalmers Street Public School worked very hard at recess, lunchtime and any time they could to raise money for the horses and the Cambridge SPCA. They organized and held a Fun Day for the students, too. We would also like to thank their grade 6 teacher, Mark Burbidge, the principal, staff and students of Chalmers Street Public School for their kindness. You are all amazing!!
We appreciate Alix McGonigle`s kindness and generosity with her fundraising Golf Tournament in memory of her dear friend, Sarah MacDonald for the horses. It was very kind and generous of June and Mike O'Brien to think of the horses when they lost their lovely daughter, Rosie, and to all the people who donated in her memory. A special thank you to Elizabeth Lorimer for her yearly donation to the horses. We enjoyed meeting her at our yard sale. We appreciate Barbara Love's yearly donation to the horses. We are looking forward to meeting her. A special thank you to Rylee Kohli who wanted donations to go to the horses in lieu of birthday presents on her 7th birthday. A big thank you to all the Burlington Costco employees who generously donated to the horses through United Way. A special thank you to Cheryl Morris of Sault Ste. Marie for her yearly donation to the horses. Thank you to Kristy for her monthly donation in honour of Bellbaby. A special thank you to the Wong family; Iggy, Christine, Lucas and Georgia for lovingly sponsoring Desiree, a very sweet Appy pony. She has come so far since arriving and the extra attention from Georgia has helped. A very special thank you to the caring couple fostering a blind and severely underweight horse until we can build a shelter for Sisi. We don't presently have enough shelter for a new horse but hope to in the spring. Thank you to Jesse of Thuris Media for designing our logo, we appreciate your creativity and advice.
